The big screen is once again illuminated at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre, located in one of Cleveland’s most metropolitan redevelopment areas. The Capitol Theatre, originally built in 1921 but vacant for the past two decades, has been brought back to life under the direction of our Design/Build Division. This iconic building in the heart of the trendy Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood on Cleveland’s near west side, has been renovated into a state-of-the-art movie theater.

The original main screen and seating area have been restored, while the upper balcony has been partitioned to create two additional screening areas. Period seating was installed to recreate the atmosphere of a 1920’s-era movie palace. The entrance and concession areas were also updated. The theater now features fully digital and 3-D projection capabilities with enhanced acoustics equipment.

The lobby at Capital Theatre has been renamed "Marous Brothers Construction Lobby" after one of its biggest supporters.

Our craftsmen self-performed the sitework, concrete, rough and finish carpentry, as well as interior finishes for the project. Our carpenters completely reworked the interior of the theaters installing finishes, repairing existing architectural plaster, restoring doors and millwork throughout the public lobbies, corridors and performance areas.

The Capitol Theatre is located within the Gordon Square Arcade Building, a structure that Marous Brothers Construction also carefully renovated for Gordon Square Homes. This organization previously engaged Marous Brothers Construction to renovate the Murial Building, Lou's Furniture Building and a former bookstore building. Other projects restored in the area by our crews include the Miller, Clinton and Dehner Buildings of West Side Homes.

Restoration efforts in the area continue with Cleveland Public Theatre, just around the corner from the Capitol Theatre. Marous Brothers Construction is currently engaged as the Design/Builder for that project as well. Furthermore, our Site and Concrete Division was called upon for demolition and abatement services Battery Park, a new housing complex being developed in the neighborhood.
