Severance Hall was one of the most modern, up-to-date concert facilities in the United States when it opened in 1931. Closed since March of 1999 for restoration, skilled carpenters from Marous Brothers Construction have been busy helping to restore this grand dame of concert halls. One of the areas that Marous Brothers Construction was heavily involved in was the new restaurant and private donors dining area. In these areas, very detailed finished carpentry was required to install the multiple levels of crown molding, trim and paneling. In one instance, twelve different layers of trim were installed to create a deeply dimensional effect. Carpenters from Marous Brothers Construction also contributed their craftsmanship to construct a dome ceiling and circular staircase. All work adhered to Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) standards throughout the duration of this project.

The newly restored Severance Hall reopened with a celebratory concert on January 6, 2000 to the accolades of both performers and audience. We are proud to have been involved in such a historic project.
