BUDGET:
$7.4 Million
PROJECT PARAMETERS:

• Fast track schedule
• 400,000 sq ft construction of seven-story medical facility
• 20 month project duration

A former empty field along a stretch of I-271, near the intersection of I-480 is now the construction site of University Hospitals newest medical facility, Ahuja Medical Center. This 400,000 sq. ft. hospital will consist of seven stories, with the top 4 stories to be utilized for patient rooms.

According to University Hospitals, the Ahuja Medical Center will be one of a few hospitals throughout the nation designed with specific awareness and sensitivity to the environment. Contracted by Gilbane, our Interior Finishes Division will be handling all framing, drywall installation, acoustical ceiling installation, rough carpentry, wall protection, cubicle track, window shades, and decorative GFRC columns as well as installing 1.7 million square feet of drywall for this project.

Our responsibilities in this fast-track project includes many aspects that are normally considered outside the scope of a subcontractor. For example, we are also contracted to provide dumpsters, scaffolding, and snow removal for the project. Because of the ambitious schedule, our crews are working on several floors simultaneously, while coordinating with many other sub-contractors to keep the project on track. The center is a part of the first phase of a $230 million-plus healthcare campus the hospital system is building.
