| Originally built in 1971, the Gibson Plaza Apartment building stands 10-stories tall in a dense, urban Washington D.C. neighborhood just north of the National Mall. Marous Brothers Construction has been called upon to provide Design/Build services on this HUD funded, comprehensive renovation. The scope of work on the project consists of the renovation of the exterior shell with new design elements, the addition of a service elevator and new unit wing, new covered entry, conversion of multiple units to accessible dwelling units, and a renovated and expanded community room and laundry facility. |
Additionally, our crews will be installing new casework and finishes in all of the units, new fire annunciation and suppression systems, increasing on-site parking, and making comprehensive mechanical and electrical renovation to increase environmental and operating efficiencies. Landscaping and streetscape amenities including a community garden for residents and play area for children will be constructed. Green building technologies will be utilized throughout the project. Upon completion in March of 2011, the building will consist of 217 units, some being subsidized and others market-rate, ranging from efficiencies to three-bedroom apartments.
