When the City of Richmond Heights decided they needed to renovate their combined City Hall and Fire Station facility they took an interesting approach. They requested a design competition amongst the areas most qualified architects and contractors. Working closely with Lowenstein + Durante Architects of Cleveland, the Marous Brothers Construction Design Team was selected for our “out-of-the-box” thinking.
Our Team proposed to City Council and the board of Richmond Heights, a new City Hall building on tier existing parking lot property and a renovated Fire Station from the current/existing building. Selective demolition to the facility was needed to accomplish this.
Our proposed plan yielded the greatest fiscal, economic, architectural and operational return on investment for the City of Richmond Heights and created a cohesive municipal campus that gives importance and prominence to the City Hall.
After awarded the project, our Design-Team worked with City Council on making the necessary adjustments to get the most of their new facilities, a perfect example on the advantages of the Design/Build approach to project delivery system.
The 9,300 sq. ft. City Hall was completed in the winter of 2008, ahead of schedule, and the newly renovated 9,400 sq. ft. fire station will be delivered in December 2008.
