Marous Brothers Construction served as the Design-Builder for the iconic Hotel Cleveland renovation in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. In partnership with owner Skyline Investments, Inc. the $93 million+ transformation blended historic preservation with modern luxury, updating 481 guest rooms, public spaces, and meeting areas. Scope included extensive exterior and interior renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and detailed restoration of architectural elements like marble floors and decorative plaster ceilings. The result is a revitalized landmark now operating as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel. Our extensive experience performing as a Design-Builder, coupled with our substantial expertise in historic preservation, Marous Brothers Construction knew that Hotel Cleveland’s historic significance and size would require a hypercollaborative project approach. Because Hotel Cleveland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, we recognized that finding the balance between matching the old details with new construction while preserving elements of the original construction was critical to meeting The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of an historic property; our primary focus was to sustain the historic look and feel of the building, preserve key historic components and deliver a thoughtful and intentional renovation. Our solution always starts with the original details and ends with unique craftsmanship resulting from total team collaboration
