Breakthrough Public Schools New Gymnasium Wing Ribbon Cutting
February 2, 2026
We joined Breakthrough Public Schools for the the ceremonial ribbon cutting of this transformative addition to their Woodland Hills campus.
A Celebration of Project Success
Marous Brothers Construction was proud to join Breakthrough Schools Woodland Hills for the official ribbon cutting of the campus’ new gymnasium and multipurpose wing. Student athletes greeted guests as they entered—offering a fitting start to a celebration centered on opportunity, collaboration, and community impact.
Susan Ertle, President of the Friends of Breakthrough (FOB), opened the ceremony and introduced Breakthrough Schools CEO Andrew McRae and Woodland Hills Principal Ron Browning, who together cut the ceremonial ribbon signifying the next chapter for the campus. Breakthrough Public Schools COO Matt Sattler then shared a thoughtful overview of the planning and decision-making process that led to this project and outlined the long-term vision for the Woodland Hills Campus.
Representing Marous Brothers Construction, Jared Freeman, General Manager of our Design-Build Group, offered remarks acknowledging the consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors—including our self-performing Site, Carpentry, and Interior Finishes teams—whose craftsmanship brought this project to life.
A memorable highlight came when FOB Board Member Larry Orwin shared his personal journey with Breakthrough Schools and presented a commemorative shadowbox to be displayed in the school’s lobby. Adding to the celebration, FOB Board Member Andy Gehrlein of ParkPlace Technologies surprised the school with 24 sets of pickleball paddles and balls for student use in the new gym.
