Marous Brothers Construction has played a key role in restoring and remodeling The Arcade over multiple decades and phases, helping preserve and elevate one of Cleveland’s most iconic National Historic Landmarks. Our involvement began with the original $30 million renovation from 1998 to 2001, in which our Construction Management Group partnered with LR Development and Sandvick Architects to transform the long-neglected structure into a 293-room Hyatt Regency hotel with retail and dining space. The renovation required extensive interior demolition, structural reconfigurations, basement excavation, and meticulous restoration of historic elements—including the building’s 300-foot glass skylight, brass fixtures, custom storefronts, and marble finishes—while integrating modern mechanical systems discreetly within the historic fabric.
In the years following, our Special Projects Group completed two additional phases of suite renovations for Skyline in 2013–2014, followed by a third phase led by our Design-Build Group in 2016 focused on fitness center and basement space improvements. From replicated bronze and wood detailing to a highly coordinated construction process within an operational landmark, our work at The Arcade reflects a long-standing commitment to craftsmanship, collaboration, and excellence in historic preservation.
